Entry visa
If you are a citizen of Bahrain, Egypt, Hong Kong, Japan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Syria, United Arab Emirates, Vatican or Yemen, you will not be required a visa for entry into Jordan.
A one-month, single-entry visa to be obtained on arrival is required by all nationals referred to in the chart below to enter Jordan. This type of visa can be obtained at any point of entry into Jordan, except for the King Hussein Bridge at the Jordan/Israel border.
Multiple – entry visas can only be obtained at the nearest embassy/consulate before departure. If visiting Israel and the Palestinian authority, it is advisable to obtain a multiple entry visa in advance.
Transit visa
Transit passengers do not need to obtain a visa in Jordan if they continue their journey to another country by the same or first connecting aircraft within 24 hours – providing they hold a valid onward or return ticket, and do not leave the airport.
Transit visas can only be issued at Jordanian airports/airlines and not at embassies or consulates.
Visa fees
The cost of single entry visa for all nationalities is JD20 (around $30) and for multiple entries it is JD60 (around $85). For groups entering Jordan from Israel individuals visa applies JD10.000 = $15.00 per entry.
There is an official money exchange counter at the Queen Alia Airport in Amman before the passport control, so you can change money without any problem right after landing, even in the middle of the night.
Validity
Validity varies depending on nationality; ask your embassy for details.
Single entry visas are valid for two months if obtained from the embassy or one month if obtained at the border, these can be extended for three or six months by registering with a police station in Jordan.
Multiple entry visas are valid for six months.
For stays over six months, all nationals are required to take an AIDS test at a local government medical authority.
If you do not extend the validity of your visa, and stay in Jordan after your visa expires you will be fined 1.5 Jordanian Dinars for each day you overstay.
Exit tax
All visitors (individuals, groups, residents too) must pay the Exit Tax, when leaving the country regardless of the period of stay in Jordan, the amount is JD5.000 = $8.00.
If you leave Jordan by a regular flight, the Exit Tax of JD 20 is included in your ticket so you do not have to pay anything at the Queen Alia Airport in Amman.
However, if you leave with a charter flight from Aqaba, you might be charged the JD 20 Departure Tax at the King Hussein Airport.
